Congratulations to Arwyn John

Congratulations to Area 35 member ARWYN JOHN who won the 1.0m Grand Prix at Hand Equestrian Centre over the New Year. Arwyn, now in his late 70's, has been a great supporter of Area 35 show jumping over many years and still competes regularly. (Those of you with long memories will remember that Arwyn won the prestigious FOXHUNTER Championship at the Horse of the Year Show in London in 1958). Look out for an interview with Arwyn in next week's Horse and Hound. Well done Arwyn and long may you continue to grace the sport of show jumping.

New Area 35 Representative

Steve Lynch stands down in January 2012 and is pleased to announce that Jenny Williams has been appointed by British Showjumping to replace him. Steve remains on the area committee and looks forward to assisting Jenny to settle into her new role. The official handover will take place at the Area AGM which will take place at The David Broome Event Centre on TUESDAY 24th JANUARY at 7.30pm.

Area 35 Dinner, Dance and Awards Evening

This annual event goes from strength to strength. Over 190 members, guests and friends attended our latest event held at The Village Hotel on Saturday 19th November 2011. They wined, dined and danced the night away and left asking "when is the next one". Well, a date has been fixed for 2012 and it can now be confirmed. Put a note in your 2012 diary for NOVEMBER 3rd and, as this year, the venue will be The Village Hotel.

Work Based Modern Apprenticeships Now Offered By British Showjumping

British Showjumping have formed a partnership with accredited work-based training provider Haddon Training to provide formal work-based programmes and apprenticeships.

Area Team Victorious at Wales and West

One of our area teams emerged victorious in the inter area team jumping competition held at The Wales and West Showground and will now go to the finals to be held during the Scope Festival in late August.
